1961

Mrs. Keiko Kodachi began teaching Sogetsu Ikebana to the public in Portland, Oregon.

1972

The first annual Sogetsu Rose Exhibition was officially sanctioned as Portland Rose Festival event, and remains the only Japanese cultural event affiliated with the Portland Rose Festival. Annually, the 3-day event, held at the pavilion at the Japanese Garden, attracts over 3,000 visitors.

1981

The Portland Sogetsu group was officially approved by Iemoto Hiroshi Teshigahara of Sogetsu Headquaters in Tokyo, Japan.

2007

Mrs. Kodachi retired as a Branch Director and is currently serving as Director Emeritus. The new Director is Leslie Dolin.
